• Attacker Charged In Fatal Chick-Fil-A Stabbing Deemed Fit For Trial: Report (patch.com) — Oswego residents are following a major development in last year's fatal Chick-fil-A stabbing case, as the accused attacker has now been ruled mentally fit to stand trial. The 20-year-old Kankakee man faces multiple serious charges stemming from the October 2025 attack at the Route 34 restaurant, where a delivery driver was killed and two maintenance workers were injured. His next court date is set for Oct. 22.
   

• Four Area Teams Advance to Regional Final in Girls Flag Football (wspynews.com) — Oswego and Oswego East girls flag football teams have both advanced to their regional finals, giving local fans two big games to watch this week. Oswego will face West Aurora at East Aurora High School, while Oswego East hosts Geneva, with both matchups set for Tuesday evening and featuring standout performances from Oswego's offense.
   

• KCHD Promotes Substance Use Prevention and Safe Medication Disposal Throughout October (wspynews.com) — Oswego residents can safely dispose of unused medications year-round at the village police department's secure drop box, part of a Kendall County effort to prevent substance misuse. A larger drive-through take-back event is also planned in Yorkville on October 24, alongside education and support services from the Kendall County Health Department for families and youth.
