Scholarship Created In Honor Of Oswego HS Coach Amanda Stanton

The Stanton family and Oswego High School has set up the Stanton Scholarship Fund, the school announced.

OSWEGO, IL — Oswego High School is accepting donations for a scholarship to honor the life of coach Amanda Stanton. The school's athletic department and the Stanton family have set up the fund, which will be awarded to an Oswego High School senior softball player each spring, the school announced.

The recipient will be someone who "demonstrates outstanding character and leadership on and off the field," the school's athletic department said.

Stanton, 26, was killed in a hit-and-run crash in the southwest part of Kendall County. She was found unresponsive on Plainfield Road near Plainsman Court Sunday afternoon.

In a statement released earlier this week, Community Unit School District 308 said Stanton was a "motivational leader" who instilled those she coached with "confidence and positivity."

Donations can be made to OHS Athletics and mailed to Oswego High School at 4250 State Rte. 71, Oswego, IL, 60543. Please include in the memo “Stanton scholarship fund," the school said.
