Bringing it on home: Retired firefighter and auto shop owner restore vintage fire truck for New York fire company (dailyherald.com) β A former Palatine volunteer firefighter and the owner of A & A Body Shop in Palatine spent two years restoring the front of a vintage New York fire truck to honor 9/11 and fire service history. Their work is deeply rooted in memories of the 1973 Ben Franklin store fire in downtown Palatine, which claimed three firefighters' lives, including the shop owner's father.
