• Big Grove Brewery gets green light to replace Durty Nellie's in Palatine (dailyherald.com subscription) — Palatine's village council has approved Big Grove Brewery to replace Durty Nellie's downtown, backed by up to $1.75 million in TIF support and additional village funds for street access changes. The project at 180-190 N. Smith St. aims to open by late 2027, bringing on-site brewing, a full kitchen, and expanded patio space steps from the train station.
   

• 2 Loaded Handguns Recovered After Gunfire Report: Palatine Police (patch.com) — Palatine police say a 17-year-old local boy faces multiple felony charges after officers investigating reported gunfire on East Independence Drive recovered two loaded 9mm handguns, ammunition, and suspected controlled-substance pills. The juvenile, also linked to a prior firearm case in Palatine, allegedly damaged village property at the police station and remains in custody at a juvenile detention facility.
   

• Conant prevails over Buffalo Grove in battle of MSL unbeatens (dailyherald.com) — Conant's football team stayed unbeaten with a 37-22 win over Buffalo Grove, powered by senior running back Jackson Spizziri's 295 rushing yards and four touchdowns. The Cougars, now 4-0 for the first time since 2022, will host Palatine next Friday to kick off Mid-Suburban West play, setting up a key early-season matchup for local fans.
