PALATINE, IL -- A 19-year-old Round Lake man has been charged with attempted murder in the gang-related shooting that left a 17-year-old critically injured. Xavier Salinas is accused of driving the car in which a fellow gang member fired shots at the Round Lake teen and a 35-year-old man at the Baldwin Green Apartments on Dec. 10, according to the Daily Herald.
The 17-year-old was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge where he remains in a medically induced coma, and, if he survives, is expected to be paralyzed from the neck down, according to the article. He fell to the ground after being grazed by one of the bullets and was shot seven more times. The 35-year-old man was treated and released from the hospital after being struck in the buttocks.
