Palatine Police Blotter: Bicyclist Snatches Purse

Nov. 1

Three landscape home lights were ripped out of the ground and damaged at a home in the 0 to 100 block of N. Avery Court. The incident occurred between Nov. 1 and Nov. 2. The damage was valued at $45.

A woman reported that her purse was stolen in the parking lot of , 45 S. Plum Grove Rd. The woman said she was in the parking lot at 4:20 p.m. and her purse was in a shopping cart. A man rode by on a bike, grabbed the purse and peddaled away heading north on Plum Grove Road. Taken was $81, an iPhone and various other items that were in the purse.

Two Illinois registration plates valued at $100 were taken from , 1275 E. Dundee Road.

Nov. 10

Daniel W. Schofield, 44, of Arlington Heights, was charged with retail theft. Police said Schofield took a Gerber folding knife from a display case, replaced the price tag with a clearance tag and bought the knife. The original price was $49.97. The clearance tag was $5.

Nov. 11

A living room window of a home in the 700 block of E. Whispering Oaks Drive was broken at 7 p.m. with an unknown blunt object.

Nov. 13

John A. Langley, 23, of Barrington, was charged with DUI, DUI blood alcohol level above .08, speeding and failure to signal after a traffic stop in the 1700 block of N. Rand Road.

Nov. 14

A 2000 black Chevy Monte Carlo had its rear window smashed sometime between 5:30 p.m. and 7:29 p.m. in the 700 block of W. Colfax Street.

Nov. 14

Nelson O. Baquedano, 23, of Palatine, was charged with DUI, DUI blood-alcohol level above .08 and no insurance after a traffic stop in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Turtle Creek Drive at 1:02 a.m.
