Pohlman appointed Palatine Township Assessor

Bill Pohlman was appointed Palatine Township Assessor by the Township Supervisor as well as the Board and took office on May 1st replacing the former assessor, Terry Kelly, upon his retirement.

As assessor, Pohlman is responsible for property tax appeals, exemptions and working with the Cook County Assessor on behalf of the residents of Palatine Township. The Board felt with Pohlman’s 10 years of service as a Trustee, his community involvement and his Certified Illinois Assessing Officer designation that he was the right candidate for the position.

As a Palatine Township Trustee, Pohlman assisted in budget development and monitoring the financial stability of the Township. He chaired the Human Needs Committee where the Township financially supports the non-profits who serve Palatine Township. Among his other duties, Bill chaired the Website and Newsletter committees.

Pohlman has lived in Palatine his entire adult life. Since living here, he has always been involved with organizations that serve the community. In 2016, he was awarded the Patriot Award by the Township for his years of service in Palatine Township.

He became a Jaycee in 1991 and was named a Lifetime Member in 2006. Pohlman worked their Fourth of July, Christmas tree sales among other events. He has been a Son of the American Legion for over 10 years and has co-chaired the Memorial Day program since 2011 as well as helped with their Thanksgiving dinner for naval recruits.

As a community volunteer, he co-chaired the wine booth at StreetFest and has acted as a committee member for Palatine's St. Patrick's Day festival since 2010. He is also a member of the Rotary and works their Oktoberfest.

Palatine Township covers a six square mile area South of Lake Cook Road in Palatine, North of Central Avenue in Schaumburg, East of Huntington Boulevard in Hoffman Estates and West of Wilke Road in Arlington Heights.
