SCHAUMBURG, IL – On Thursday, April 13th, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi joined the Association for Individual Development (AID) in Elgin to celebrate the $3 million in federal funding the Congressman secured for the design and construction of the organization’s new Community Mental Health Center. The facility would significantly expand access to behavioral health services for northern Kane and surrounding counties, in addition to the more than 5,700 children and adults that AID already serves throughout the region.

“This facility will help individuals develop long-term recovery plans to adapt to, cope with, and participate in community life again,” said Congressman Krishnamoorthi. “As a community, we must ensure that people are able to lead mentally healthy lives. This includes addressing the needs of marginalized communities who face greater risk factors for mental health conditions, as well as greater challenges in access to care at a time when 1 in 5 American adults already experience mental health challenges each year. I was proud to bring this funding back home to our district and look forward to visiting the new buildings when construction is complete to see all the progress that is made.
