Teen Gang Member Fired Shots Near Palatine High School: Cops

A "self-admitted Four Corner Hustler" has been charged with a shots fired incident near Palatine High School.

PALATINE, IL - An 18-year-old Palatine man who police say has gang ties has been charged in connection with the "shots fired" incident that was reported near Palatine High School last week. Luis Corona, who lives in the 1300 block of Winslowe Drive in Palatine, was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm within 1000 feet of a school and possession of marijuana with intent to deliver in connection with the alleged Jan. 23 incident, according to police.

Police accused Corona of firing shots in the 1300 block of North Rohlwing Road at about 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 23. Investigators were led to Corona by evidence located at the scene and witness statements. Corona, who police say is "a self-admitted Four Corner Hustler" gang member, was charged Jan. 26.

Corona appeared Monday in Rolling Meadows bond court, where a judge set bond at $250,000 — ten percent of which is needed to make bail.

There were no injuries in the incident, which occurred within a two block range of Palatine High School.

Police said additional charges may be filed.
