Elderly Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit By Car: Police

Anna Marie Clobuciar, 88, of Palos Heights, succumbed to injuries after being struck by a car in Palos Heights, police said

PALOS HEIGHTS, IL — An elderly pedestrian died of her injuries after she was struck by a vehicle Thursday evening in Palos Heights. She was identified as Anna Marie Clobuciar, 88, by the Cook County Medical Examiner. Clobuciar was brought to Advocate Christ Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased.

Clobuciar, who lived in the 100 block of Timber Trail in Palos Heights, was crossing Ridgeland Avenue in the 13300 block around 8 p.m. in light traffic, when she was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound on Ridgeland. The street was closed for several hours as law enforcement members of the South Suburban Emergency Response Team reconstructed the accident.

The driver has not been ticketed. Deputy Chief Bill Czajkowski, of the Palos Heights Police Department, said the driver did not show signs of impairment.

“It appears to be an unfortunate accident,” Czajkowski said.
