Jewel Purse Snatcher Nabbed: Cops

PALOS PARK, IL -- A woman believed tied to a purse snatching at Jewel was taken into custody by Palos Park Police Investigations Friday evening. Terika Hayslett, 30, of Chicago, was was charged with theft and aggravated identity theft.

Hayslett was captured on security camera April 27 allegedly removing an elderly woman’s purse from her cart at the Jewel-Osco Food Store, 9652 W. 131st St., Palos Park. Police said Hayslett was spotted leaving the store in an older model white car. She was picked up at another grocery store by an alert Oak Brook Terrace police officer.

Palos Park investigators worked with various Cook County and DuPage County police departments in tracking and located Hayslett, said a police news release. Hayslett is due in court Saturday at the Leighton Criminal Courts Building.
