WORTH, IL — One of two men shot and killed at a Worth bar early Monday morning has been identified as an Oak Lawn resident, Dan Sereiko, 38. Police have not released the second man’s name, but according to a GoFundMe campaign started by family friends to raise money for his funeral, his name was Kevin Drexel.

Worth police are calling the shooting that happened at The Crossing Bar and Grill, 6959 W. 111th St., an “isolated incident” and state there is no threat to the community. A Cook County Medical Examiner’s report indicates that both men were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center around 12:30 a.m. Monday.

A relative told Patch that Sereiko and the other man were on the “smoking patio” when they got into in altercation with another group "known to each other." Sereiko tried to run away but was shot twice in the back. The other man was shot in the chest.

The relative said Sereiko made it into the bar, dying in the arms of another friend.

Throughout the day Monday, rumors flew naming a possible suspect. Chief Tim Denton, of the Worth Police Department, said investigators from the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force determined a person whose photo was shared widely on social media was not involved in the shooting.

“This information has been determined to be inaccurate,” Worth Police Chief Tim Denton said. “The person identified and posted to social media is not the offender in this incident. The Worth Police Department is reminding the public to not take any action into their own hands.”

Denton said investigators are still in the process of identifying all persons of interest and locating witnesses. The Worth Department is requesting that if anyone was at The Crossings Bar and Grill at the time of the incident or has any information to contact Deputy Chief Petersen at 708-448-3979, ext. 583.
