Summer Classes Offer Array Of Learning Choices At Moraine Valley

PALOS HILLS, IL — Make this the summer of learning something new. Moraine Valley Community College is offering an array of courses and formats for the summer 2024 semester. In addition to in-person classes, online and hybrid classes, which is a combination of online and face-to-face instruction, are also being offered.

The four- and eight-week summer sessions start the week of June 10. The second four-week session begins the week of July 8.

Some classes offered this summer include Arabic, Art Appreciation, American Sign Language, Introduction to Automotive Technology, General Biology I and II, Introductory Microbiology, Introduction to Business, Introduction to Finance, Cannabis Introduction, Introduction to Coding, Microsoft Office I, Composition I and II, Introduction to Criminal Justice, Introduction to Computer Science, Cultural Geography, Western Civilization I and II, Medical Terminology, Probability and Statistics, Theater Appreciation, Nutrition for Today, Ethics, Introduction to Psychology and General Sociology.

Noncredit classes include Basics of Grilling, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Intro Career As Freight Broker, Parent Career Planning and Youth Mental Health First Aid.

Tuition is $137 per credit hour plus fees and books. New students must complete an admission application at Moraine Valley Apply, and can register in the Registration Office, located in the Student Services Center in Building S, 9000 W. Moraine Valley offers more than 130 degree and certificate programs. Students interested in transferring to four-year colleges or universities can earn associate degrees in Arts, Fine Arts, General Studies, Engineering Science, Applied Science or Science. Students also can choose from several career certificate programs, including Allied Health and Nursing, Business and Computer Sciences, Industrial Technology and Public Service.

Classes are also in session at Moraine Valley’s two extension sites – the Education Center at Blue Island, 12940 S. Western Ave. and the Southwest Education Center in Tinley Park, 17900 S. 94th Ave.

Tuition at Moraine Valley costs $471 per three-credit-hour course compared to more than $1,475 per class for private colleges or universities.
