Three rules for buying Girl Scout cookies

It's Girl Scout Cookie time again, which means young girls will be setting up tables in locations around the area. As someone who has stood at those table for hours supervising cookie sales, here are a few pieces of advice for visiting those table.

1. We don't set the prices. We just sell the cookies. Yes, we know you can find cheaper cookies, so please go buy those cookies and enjoy them. Don't stand and get angry about the price of a box of cookies. Just walk by, smile and say "no thank you."

2. We don't care how much you hated selling cookies. Every year we listen to people tell us what a terrible experience selling cookies was for their daughter. Guess what? We're trying to give our daughters a good experience and teach them some life skills. You can keep your horror stories about not being able to collect money from family and tales about how much you hated the process to yourself.

3. We're out of Thin Mints, just accept it and move on. When you walk up to the table at the end of the shift and see three boxes, you can assume we don't have any other cookies. If we had a hidden case of Thin Mints, we'd be happy to sell them to you. We're in the business to sell cookies so there's no reason we'd hide them from you.

Girl Scout Cookies are a fundraising activity designed to help young girls learn some sales skills and raise money for their troop. Please respect the concept and help us by using those basic manners you were taught as a child.
