Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K jumpstarts Park Ridge resident's running career

A 21-year Bank of America employee, Park Ridge community member Angelica Marchuk kicked off her running career with the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K 13 years ago, and will now be completing her ninth Shuffle this weekend. Considered an athlete her entire life, it wasn’t until she and a fellow colleague decided to run the Shuffle that she developed a knack for long distance running.

“It was our first organized race and we just had so much fun. We didn’t even realize that the event drew in such a large number of participants” said Marchuk. “Now, as a seasoned runner – having participated in more than 50 running competitions – including eight Shamrock Shuffles and three Bank of America Chicago Marathons, I take pride in knowing the events sponsored by my employer are by far the most organized and my favorite to run.”

Marchuk consistently runs the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K and Bank of America Chicago Marathon because of the excitement and energy the people of Chicago bring to the races. The Shamrock Shuffle 8K is the first race Marchuk participates in each year to jumpstart her running season.

As Marchuk started her running career with the support and encouragement of fellow colleagues at the bank, she finds herself motivating other co-workers and friends to run too. She explains the positive impact of running on her health, attitude and energy, and tells them she’s in the best shape of her life since high school. Although Marchuk knows running isn’t for everyone, she hopes people of all ages and athletic ability realize that it’s is a great way to better their health.
