Celebrate Earth Day at the Park Ridge Park District!

Enjoy fun activities, create recycled crafts, discover inventive creations at the Repurposed Project Fair, dance to live music, discover live birds of prey and creatures big and small in the animal show, shop at eco-friendly vendor booths, learn from “green” organizations, give Smokey the Bear a high five, and rope climb up a tree. Be sure to take part in the raffle, help judge the Repurposed Project Fair, devour some delicious food and drinks, and drop off gently used items to be reused or recycled.

  • 2:00pm-2:30pm: Reading of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax with a special appearance by The Lorax

Bring the following to donate/recycle:

  • Avenues to Independence: Any small electronics, computers, iPods, cameras, laptops; broken items accepted
  • Maryville Academy: Gently used children’s clothing (birth to age 21), art supplies, construction paper
  • UsAgain: shoes, clothes, clothing accessories such as purses, gloves, hats, etc.; all types of cloth products such as towels, linens drapes, rags etc.
  • Working Bikes: Bikes (any condition), bike parts & accessories, crutches, wheelchairs, sewing machines

Repurposed Project Fair

Create and display cool ways to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle by repurposing old items into something new and useful. Everyone is invited to design – families, children, adults, and groups! Your amazing creations will be displayed at Earth Day on Saturday, May 2. Trophies and prizes awarded! Click here for more information and to download a registration form.

2nd Annual Used Bike and Trike Exchange
It’s time for spring cleaning, and why not start with clearing all the old bikes from the garage? Park Ridge Friends of the Parks is hosting the 2nd Annual Used Bike and Trike Exchange benefiting the Park Ridge Park District. Your bike/trike donation:

  • Is a tax deductible 501(c)3 donation
  • Entitles you to a 20% discount on the purchase of another bike and early shopping privileges from 10:00am-11:00am
  • Benefits the Park Ridge Park District’s 100 Trees for 100 Years Program
  • Promotes Re-use and bicycling in our community!

Send a photo of the bike you are donating to Pedals4theParks@gmail.com and get an additional discount. Hours are listed to the left. Bikes are sold as is and all sales and donations are final.
