Richwoods HS grad to launch horror film reboot at Peoria Riverfront Museum (bnd.com) — Peoria film fans can catch a special double feature at the Peoria Riverfront Museum on Oct. 17, when Richwoods High grad and West Peoria native David Ferino screens his reboot, "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Organic Intelligence." The original 1978 cult classic will show first at 3 p.m., followed by Ferino's new film at 6:30 p.m., celebrating Peoria's role in his filmmaking journey.

Grand jury indicts Peoria man for June murder (centralillinoisproud.com) — A Peoria County grand jury has indicted 29-year-old Dujuane Nelson on a first-degree murder charge in the June 29 shooting death of 43-year-old Andre Leathers Sr. in a backyard on North Saratoga. Nelson, previously convicted on firearm and burglary charges, remains in the Peoria County Jail on $1.5 million bond following his arraignment.
