Neighbors worry about traffic and privacy near a daycare, while developers say the project adds minimal congestion; the Peoria City Council will make the final decision on October 13.

2. Attorney sues owners of closed Peoria high rise over unpaid legal fees (bnd.com) — A Peoria-based attorney has sued the owners of the shuttered Riverview Plaza high-rise in Peoria County Circuit Court, claiming more than $35,000 in unpaid legal fees plus interest. The dispute stems from years of representation in the city's enforcement case over safety violations and fines tied to the 2024 closure of the downtown building, with a new court date set for March 2027.

3. East Peoria shows off its spacious new $24M police headquarters (wcbu.org) — East Peoria has officially opened its new $24 million police headquarters on Camp Street, giving officers a purpose-built, 37,000‑square‑foot facility with modern evidence, training, and community spaces. Local residents can now attend meetings and events in the new community room, while city leaders say the project reflects a long-term commitment to public safety and better service for the Peoria-area community.

4. 1888-1943 Lost Upper Free Bridge over Illinois River at Peoria,IL (blogspot.com) — A historical look back at Peoria's lost Upper Free Bridge over the Illinois River recalls how towboat collisions in the 1940s ultimately ended its use and led to removal of most of the structure. Locals share memories of fishing, skating, and family ties to the bridge, while noting that one pier and other remnants remain visible near today's McClugage Bridge and Water Works building.

5. How plate readers helped peoria police arrest suspected trafficker (azfamily.com) — Peoria police say their license plate reader system was key to tracking a suspected sex trafficker and safely recovering two victims, including a missing 15-year-old girl.
