Toddler, Man Hit By Lightning At Fireworks Show
The victims were a 3-year-old child and adult, according to reports.

SHERIDAN, IL — Two people — an 18-year-old man and 4-year-old girl — were struck by lightning just before a fireworks show in Sheridan, according to reports. The incident happened Wednesday night in LaSalle County.
NBC Chicago said Sheridan Police Chief Chuck Bergeron confirmed the incident.
Both were taken in critical but stable condition to an area hospital, and the fireworks show was cancelled.

Fire officials confirmed that a Plainfield firefighter/paramedic was on the scene in Sheridan and aided the victims.

The Radioman911 Facebook page posted a photo of the tree the adult and child were reportedly standing under when they were struck, adding that an off-duty firefighter from St. Charles also rushed to the victims' aid.
In Chicago, a woman was also hit by lightning on Lake Shore Drive following a fireworks display. The woman was reportedly in serious condition but has since stabilized.
In Plainfield, another lightning strike was reported at a home on Eagle Feather Court. Local fire officials said a smell of "electric burning" was reported in that incident and several breakers were tripped at the home, but there were no obvious signs of a lightning strike was found on the exterior of the home.
A house fire in Naperville was also caused by a lightning strike, officials said.
