Aurora Man Wants Plainfield Cemetery Dumpster Removed
Ed Skolnik says he wouldn't have buried his wife where she is had the dumpster been there.
When Aurora resident Ed Skolnik’s wife died in 2007, he decided to bury her in the Plainfield Township Cemetery. He found a spot along the fence and was happy with how it looked.
But since then a dumpster has been placed near by and Skolnik would like to see it moved.
“A dumpster doesn’t belong in a cemetery,” Skolnik said. “A dumpster belongs over by the maintenance shack or something but shouldn’t be out among the graves.”

Skolnik said he contacted Plainfield Township Supervisor Tony Fremarek to have it removed, but Skolnik isn’t satisfied with what they did.
“They put a little white plastic fence on two sides of it,” Skolnik said. “Move it. It doesn’t belong there. I never would have put her there if I knew she’d be next to a dumpster.”

Fremarek said that even if he wanted to move the dumpster, there’s no other place to put it.
“The original roads were built for horse and carriage,” Fremarek said. “The reality is that you don’t look at the dumpster. You see a fence. It’s really more of a privacy fence and really hides the dumpster more than anything.”
According to Fremarek, Skolnik is the only person he’s aware of that’s unhappy with where the dumpster is located. In fact, people have expressed their thanks about it.
“They’re glad that it’s there,” Fremarek said. “It makes it very easy for them to maintain their grave site. They’re thankful there’s a place for them to throw away dead flowers and things like that.”
