Blaze At Springbank Subdivision House Appears To Be 'Accidental': Plainfield FD (patch.com) — Plainfield residents are learning more after a late-night fire destroyed a home in the Springbank subdivision on Selfridge Circle, where all occupants escaped safely. Plainfield firefighters, aided by multiple neighboring departments, battled intense flames that damaged nearby houses' siding before bringing the blaze under control in about 30 minutes. Investigators say the fire appears accidental, and one firefighter suffered minor injuries.

Plainfield police to conduct railroad crossing enforcement effort Wednesday (shawlocal.com) — Plainfield drivers should expect stepped-up police enforcement at railroad crossings on Wednesday, targeting motorists who stop on the tracks or drive unsafely near trains. Yash Patel and Madeleine Yui now move into a competitive process that could lead to significant college scholarships. They'll submit detailed applications, essays, and test scores as they aim to advance to finalist status next spring.

Illinois American Water customers can speak out against proposed rate hike at Bolingbrook hearing Wednesday (shawlocal.com) — Plainfield residents who get water from Illinois American Water could see their monthly bills rise by about $10 if a proposed $129 million rate hike is approved. The Illinois Commerce Commission will take public comments at a Bolingbrook hearing Wednesday evening, and customers can also submit feedback online or by phone before regulators rule later this year.
