• 2 Plainfield North Students Named Semifinalist In 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program (patch.com) — Plainfield families can celebrate as two Plainfield North High School students, Yash Patel and Madeleine Yui, have been named semifinalists in the prestigious 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program. The pair now advance in a competitive process that evaluates academics, leadership, activities and test scores, with a chance to earn part of nearly $24 million in scholarships next spring.
   

• Upcoming Railway Crossing To Target Drivers Stopping On Train Tracks: Plainfield Police (patch.com) — Plainfield drivers are being warned about a targeted enforcement effort at village railroad crossings on Sept. 16, when Plainfield police and CN Railway Police will focus on motorists who stop on the tracks or commit other violations. The campaign aims to boost safety awareness, stressing that drivers should only enter crossings when they can fully clear the tracks to avoid potentially deadly situations.
   

• Illinois American Water customers can speak out against proposed rate hike at Bolingbrook hearing Wednesday (shawlocal.com) — Plainfield residents who get service from Illinois American Water could see their monthly bills rise by about $10 for water and $23 for wastewater under a proposed $129 million rate hike. The Illinois Commerce Commission will take public comments at a Bolingbrook hearing this Wednesday evening, and locals can also submit feedback online or by phone before regulators rule later this year.
