C.W. Avery Family YMCA Aquatics Director Cindy Moss, lifeguard Kelly Michel, Membership Team Representative Lauren Teper, and lifeguard Alexis Fuqua were honored at Monday night’s Village of Plainfield Board Meeting for helping to save the life of a member at the YMCA on December 29.
This amazing team of Y professionals rescued a member who was in distress while in the lap pool and provided life saving CPR until emergency personnel arrived on the scene. Thanks to the quick action taken by these employees, we are happy to share that this member is on the road to making a full recovery.
“We are incredibly proud of the team at the C.W. Avery Family YMCA,” said Greater Joliet Area YMCA President and CEO Katy Leclair. “All YMCA employees are CPR certified and, while we hope incidents are few and far between, we know our strong culture of safety and training can help save lives. These employees sprung into action, leaned on their training, and helped to save someone’s life. They are true heroes in our eyes,” added Leclair.
