Cigarettes Stolen From Burglarized BP In Plainfield: Police
The gas station on Lincoln Highway in Plainfield was just one of several business burglarized in the area early Monday.
PLAINFIELD, IL — A BP on Lincoln Highway in Plainfield was one of several businesses hit in a string of burglaries early Monday morning, according to police.
An alarm prompted officers to respond to the the gas station, at 16141 W. Lincoln Highway, around 1:53 a.m. Monday to find the front door shattered.
Five packs of Newport cigarettes were reported stolen from the BP, Commander Anthony Novak told Patch.

The investigation, which remains active and open as of Tuesday, was referred to Plainfield Police Department's Investigations Unit for follow-up, Novak said.
The Plainfield business was just one of several targeted early Monday morning. Several businesses — including a Subway, Jimmy John's and liquor store — were hit around the same time in neighboring Lemont, Patch reported.

Cash was taken from Subway and Lemont Liquor, but nothing was stolen from Jimmy John's. A window of El Burrito Jr., on State Street, was also broken but no entry was made, according to Lemont police.
Similar incidents were also reported in Woodridge and Romeoville on the same night, Lemont police said.
Novak could not confirm whether the burglaries were related.
