Bank Robberies Over Halloween Weekend In Plainfield Area Likely Related: FBI

Heartland Bank and PNC Bank, both off Route 59 in the Plainfield area, were robbed over the Halloween weekend.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Two Halloween weekend bank robberies in the Plainfield area were likely related, the FBI confirmed to Patch.

Special Agent Siobhan Johnson did not say whether the FBI has determined any suspects but noted the agency continues to solicit tips from the public.

The first bank, Heartland Bank at 14901 Route 59 in Plainfield, was robbed around 11:20 a.m. Saturday. The suspect gave the teller a note demanding money but did not display or imply he had a weapon, Patch reported.

Two days later on Halloween, and just over three miles away on Route 59, PNC Bank was robbed. The robbery happened around 4:48 p.m. after a man entered the bank, passed the teller a note and fled after taking an undetermined amount of cash.

Officials described the suspect in Saturday's robbery as an approximately 25-year-old man wearing blue jeans, a dark baseball cap, a protective face mask and glasses. Joliet police described Monday's robber as a man between 25 to 30 years old. He wore a medical mask, glasses, black hat, black jacket and blue jeans.

No injuries were reported in either crime, Patch reported.
