Hawk Subaru Hosts 3rd Annual Subies of the Corn Trunk or Treat Event

Hawk Subaru played host to the highly successful 3rd Annual Subies of the Corn Trunk or Treat, on Saturday, October 21st. The event's impact was felt within the community, as the collective generosity of the SOTC members raised and donated $712 to two remarkable local charities: the Dainty Meow and the Greater Joliet Area YMCA.

Members of Subies of the Corn brought their Subaru vehicles to life with imaginative decorations, creating a safe and family-friendly environment for area children to trick or treat.

In tune with Subaru's commitment to pets, the event coincided with Subaru Loves Pets® Month, with the Dainty Meow showcasing animals available for adoption on-site.

In the spirit of Subaru Loves Learning®, Subies of the Corn contributed to education by presenting essential school supplies to the Greater Joliet Area YMCA. These supplies will bolster the Before and After School Youth Recreation Program, reinforcing the event's dedication to local youth and learning.

The Joliet Fire Department arrived with their impressive 40-foot ladder truck and a fully-equipped ambulance. Children in attendance had a unique opportunity to learn about fire prevention and explore the life-saving equipment up close, adding an educational dimension to the event.

The day's festivities featured a silent auction and raffle, with gracious contributions from Subaru Motorsports USA, Vermont SportsCar, Diode Dynamics, Subaru Gear, Dirtfish, Subies of the Corn, and, of course, Hawk Subaru. Notably, 100% of the proceeds from the silent auction and raffle were donated to the two charities, emphasizing the commitment to their causes.

Adding a delectable touch to the event, Taquerias Atotonilco treated attendees with their exceptional tacos, generously provided by Hawk Subaru.

Subies of the Corn, also known as "SOTC," originated as a Subaru Enthusiasts Car Club in 2017 and evolved into an Illinois nonprofit corporation in August 2023. SOTC operates as a 501(c)(3) public charity, aligning with the Subaru Love Promise®. The organization's core mission is to host enjoyable and charitable events for Subaru Enthusiasts in the Chicago Southland area, with the primary aim of benefiting others.

Since its inception in 2017, Subies of the Corn and its dedicated members have raised over $12,000 for local and national charities, collected over 3,200 toys for Toys for Tots, and donated over 600 pairs of socks, 250 toiletry kits, 75 drawstring bags, 50 towels, and 50 washcloths to MorningStar Mission to assist those experiencing homelessness.

Furthermore, Subies of the Corn and its members have collected and donated an impressive 1,067 pounds of food to the Northern Illinois Food Bank, addressing issues of food insecurity, and also contributed to environmental sustainability by collecting/recycling 4,942 plastic grocery bags, diverting over 75 pounds of plastic from landfills.
