Officers and paramedics treated the victims, who were hospitalized, and the man was later taken into custody as investigators determine potential charges.
   

2. 650 Rolls Of Toilet Paper Intended For Homecoming Pranks Intercepted: Plainfield Police (patch.com) — Plainfield police say homecoming pranks near Plainfield North High School have escalated, with masked groups targeting homes and cars and officers seizing 650 rolls of toilet paper. Residents unaffiliated with festivities are being hit, and police are urging students to avoid property damage and dangerous behavior while balancing these calls with other serious emergencies.

Will County lawmakers hosting food drive to benefit Plainfield Area Interfaith Food Pantry (shawlocal.com) — Plainfield residents are being asked to help stock the Plainfield Area Interfaith Food Pantry through a new food drive running until Oct. 21. Werk Force Brewing Co. and Plainfield Park District partner on getting state award (shawlocal.com) — Plainfield's Werk Force Brewing Co. and the Plainfield Park District are being honored statewide for their long-running partnership supporting local disc golf and park programs. Residents can join the 2026 Pints for Parks fundraiser on Nov. 12 at Werk Force's Barrel Den, with proceeds funding scholarships for Plainfield Park District participants in need.
   

5. New state record pumpkin (audacy.com) — A Plainfield grower has set a new Illinois record with a 2,492.5‑pound pumpkin, currently the heaviest in the United States this season. Phil Groenewold, who grows his giant pumpkin at his Plainfield home, describes the demanding hobby, from battling storms and pests to carefully managing soil, water, and genetics for months.
