Plainfield D202 Switches To E-Learning Due To 'Predicted Frigid Temperatures'

The National Weather Service predicted wind chills between 25-35 degrees below zero on Friday.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Students who attend Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 schools will learn remotely Friday due to "predicted frigid temperatures," administrators announced Thursday morning.

The National Weather Service forecast a high of minus 2 Thursday night, with wind chills as low as 35 below zero. The high is predicted to be minus 5 degrees on Friday, with wind chills as low as 25 below zero.

As a result, District 202 will use an e-learning day Friday, meaning students will not need to make up in-person attendance at the end of the school year. After-school activities, sports and the YMCA Kid Zone will also be canceled.
