Plainfield Park District Alliance Hosts Candidate Meet and Greet

Offshoot of "Park Truth" group to host event with incumbents.

A new group known as the Plainfield Park District Alliance will host a candidate meet and greet fundraiser from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 25 at HopScotch & Vine, 24047 Lockport St.

The group is an extension of the Park Truth advocacy group.

“The event is designed to give residents an opportunity to meet four candidates seeking positions on the Plainfield Park District Board of Commissioners who have won the support of the Alliance: Mary Kay Ludemann, Larry Newton, Rob Ayres and Mimi Poling,” the park district alliance said in a press release.

Spokeswoman Susie Carlman said the event is for alliance-backed candidates, and challenger John Ledvina, who is running against Ayres and Poling for a two-year spot on the board, was not invited to attend.

“There’s no active opposition to Mr. Ledvina’s candidacy; the group just was able to back only four contenders for the four available seats,” Carlman said.

She said Ludemann, Newton, Ayres and Poling have indicated they plan to be at the Feb. 25 event.

The event has a $25 admission fee, which will be accepted at the door.
