Plainfield Trustees to Take Another Look at Route 30 TIF District

Route 30 improvement agreement, funding also on Monday's agenda.

After a split vote at a Dec. 1 meeting, trustees will take another look at a TIF district that could fund redevelopment along Route 30 from Renwick to Spangler Road.

The measure is on the Dec. 15 village board agenda, with a proposal to reconsider a $78,200 contract with Chicago-based SB Friedman Development Advisors to conduct a TIF eligibility study and create a redevelopment strategy.

On Dec. 1, trustees Bill Lamb and Jim Racich voted in favor of the proposal, while Paul Fay voted no, leaving Mayor Mike Collins to cast the deciding vote. Trustees Margie Bonuchi and Garrett Peck were absent, and there is a vacant spot on the board due to the resignation of Dan Rippy, who resigned after a winning bid for circuit judge last month.

In order for another vote to happen, one of the trustees who voted no would have to make a motion to reconsider the Dec. 1 vote.

Also on the agenda are a sign variance for Adventist Healthcare, which seeks permission for a ground monument sign of up to 15 feet high and 64 square feet at 15728 S. Route 59, and a proposal to amend the village’s water and sewer service charges.

The board will also vote on an agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation to facilitation the Route 30 improvement project, along with the village’s share of funding for the project, which totals $1,049,033.
