'Rocktober' Beer, Music Fest Lasts Through Sunday

The newly completed Pace park-n-ride site will play host to the event.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A three-day beer and live music event will make its debut later this month at the newly completed Pace park-n-ride at 143rd Street and Van Dyke Roads. Rocktober Beerfest Plainfield, hosted by StarEvents, is scheduled for Sept. 21 to 23 and promises beer, bands and brats in celebration of "the rich German heritage and (playing) off the spirit of a traditional beerfest."

Through the Sept. 21 opening day of Rocktober Beerfest, one-day tickets are $5 online ($10 at the gate). Three-day tickets are also available online for $10. Kids age 12 and under are admitted to the fest for free.

Rocktober Beerfest Plainfield hours are 5 to 11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21; 2 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22; and 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23.

The food lineup includes bratwurst by Lee's Concessions and empanadas by Empanadus. Beer — including Sam Adams Boston Lager, Octoberfest and New England IPA, Miller Lite and Coors Light — will also be available, as well as vodka lemonades.

Each day before the fest, "happy hour" events will also be offered with free entry and one beer to employees of District 202 (Friday), the village (Saturday) and Diageo (Sunday).

Kids activities include a moonwalk, bungee jump, water races, mini-high striker, carnival and balloon games and more.

Parking is free, and the event is cash only but will have ATMs on site.

"Show up wearing your best lederhosen or dirndl, and let’s chug a beer," organizers say on the Rocktober Beerfest website.
