Ruane Appointed to Plainfield Village Board

He will serve out the remainder of Jim Racich's term, which ends in April.

There's a new face on the Plainfield Village Board, albeit temporarily.

Tom Ruane, of Ruane Construction, received unanimous board approval Monday to fill a vacancy created by the departure of longtime trustee Jim Racich. Racich resigned in December, and the term expires in April.

A longtime Plainfield resident, Ruane is a member of the Plainfield Riverfront Foundation Board of Directors and an organizer for the Plainfield Hometown Irish Parade.

Ruane said he spoke with his predecessor prior to taking office on Monday. "I talked to Jim and he's given me his support," Ruane said. "I don't think I could ever fill (his) shoes."

Ruane did not file petitions to run in the April 4 consolidated election. Four candidates are vying for the three open spots on the board in the April 4 election.
