Sean Spicer Wants To 'Share' Melissa McCarthy's Emmy

McCarthy won the award for her recent appearances on "SNL."

PLAINFIELD, IL — Former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer — known to "Saturday Night Live" fans as "Spicey" — is fired up over Plainfield native Melissa McCarthy's recent Emmy win. Spicer told The Blast he thinks McCarthy should share the award with him.

McCarthy, best known for her performances in "Bridesmaids" and "Mike & Molly," last weekend won the award for best guest actress on a comedy series during Sunday's creative arts awards. The Emmy Awards will air on Sunday.

McCarthy was recognized for her appearance on "SNL," where she played Spicer as a gum-chomping, quick-tempered podium-rider.

Spicer, who resigned from his position at the White House in July, told a reporter he thinks he should also get credit for McCarthy's performance.“I think we should share it,” Spicer said Tuesday. Asked how he felt about McCarthy's take on him, Spicer said, "The first (skit) was funny." Earlier this year, he was more critical of her "SNL" skits, saying, "It wasn't funny. It was stupid, or silly, or malicious."
