Smash & Grab Burglars Hit Plainfield

Police indicated the crimes may be the work of the infamous "Felony Lane Gang."

PLAINFIELD, IL — Vehicle burglars smashed several car windows Thursday before stealing items, according to Plainfield police. "All involved the breaking of a window of an unoccupied vehicle to steal a purse," police said.

Officials indicated the Felony Lane Gang — a Florida-based group of car burglars known to travel to the Chicago suburbs to target vehicles parked at fitness centers, day cares and more to steal women's purses — may be involved.

"Google 'Felony Lane Gang Burglaries' to read numerous articles related to these crimes," Plainfield police said on Facebook. The group is believed to have targeted a victim outside the C.W. Avery YMCA last May, along with victims in Naperville and other nearby suburbs.
