Snow, Sleet, Freezing Rain: Winter Weather Advisory For IL

Despite a boost in temperature, winter weather is headed our way.

Despite a weekend warmup that could see highs in the 30s on Sunday, some parts of Illinois could still get some extreme weather. A winter weather advisory is in effect from noon Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday, with snow, sleet and freezing rain expected Sunday afternoon and Sunday night into Monday morning for areas south of I-80. North of I-80, residents should expect mostly snow, with accumulation of 1 to 2 inches.

The NWS is warning drivers to expect slippery roads and limited visibility Sunday afternoon and evening.

Temperatures could climb even more with week, with a high of 49 by Thursday.
