Special Park Board Meeting Set To Appoint New Commissioner

Heather Kazmark resigned last month.

PLAINFIELD, IL — The Plainfield Park District Board of Commissioners has scheduled a special meeting for 6 p.m. Nov. 20 to select a person to fill a spot on the board until the next election in 2019. The spot was left vacant when commissioner Heather Kazmark stepped down on Oct. 31.

Kazmark was appointed to the board to fill the spot vacated by former commissioner Janet Silosky in 2015. Although she ran unopposed for a six-year term in April, the person who takes her spot on the board will serve only until 2019. The candidate that wins that election will serve the remaining four years of Kazmark's term, ending in 2023. After the 2023 election, the position will again carry a six-year term.

The agenda for the Nov. 20 meeting calls for an executive session, followed by an open session to appoint the new commissioner to the role.
