Suspect in Custody in Plainfield Bank Robbery
Incident is third bank robbery in Will County this week.

Plainfield police have a suspect in custody after an alleged robbery at the BMO Harris Bank at Route 59 and Renwick Road.
Sgt. Mike Fisher said the robbery was reported at 2:22 p.m. on Friday.
With the help of information from witnesses and that fact that officers arrived on the scene quickly, police were able to track down the vehicle believed to belong to the suspect, Fisher said.

Fisher would describe the suspect only as a white male, and said a preliminary investigation indicates that he acted alone. According to police, the suspect indicated he had a weapon, but did not display one. There were no injuries in the incident.
The suspect’s vehicle was stopped by Plainfield Police, Illinois State Police and Shorewood police in Shorewood, Fisher said. Evidence techs are currently processing the vehicle, and the suspect is being taken to the Plainfield Police Department, Fisher said shortly before 4 p.m.

According to Fisher, FBI investigators are also en route to the station to interview the suspect. He said police expect to release additional information later Friday.
The incident is the third bank robbery this week in Will County. On Monday, a teller at a First Midwest Bank in Bolingbrook was shot and wounded in a robbery. That suspect, described as a black male with a thin build in his early 20s, is still at large, Special Agent Joan Hyde said on Friday.

On Tuesday, a pair of suspects allegedly robbed Merchants & Manufacturers Bank in Joliet. Two men were charged in connection with that robbery on Wednesday.
Hyde said there is no indication that Friday’s robbery in Plainfield is connected to the other incidents.
