Officers also made one arrest for aggravated speeding, police said.
ROMEOVILLE, IL — The Romeoville Police Department issued 12 seatbelt citations and seven cellphone citations during its recent Thanksgiving enforcement effort, the department said in a release.
Officers also wrote several citations for moving violations, equipment and registration violations, and made one arrest for aggravated speeding, police said.
Law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois participated in this enforcement effort to reduce highway fatalities by getting impaired drivers off the roads and more people buckled
up, according to the department. The enforcement campaign took place from Nov. 19-29.

Extra emphasis was also placed on enforcement during late-night hours, when statistics show the most unbuckled and impaired driving fatalities occur, the department said.
The Thanksgiving enforcement effort is made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket campaigns.
