The police department also issued 18 seat belt citations and five distracted driving citations.
ROMEOVILLE, IL – The Romeoville Police Department issued 18 seat belt citations, five distracted driving citations and made two misdemeanor arrests during the recent Fourth of July “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” safety campaigns, according to a release from the department.
Romeoville joined with more than 200 other state and local law enforcement agencies to get drunk and drugged drivers off the roads and encourage seat belt use, the department said. The effort featured high-visibility enforcement combined with a variety of outreach activities, including a media campaign.
The enforcement period was funded by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” programs.
