Romeoville Man, 20, Killed In Route 53 Semi Crash
The crash remains under investigation.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — A 20-year-old Romeoville man was killed when he was struck by a semi-tractor trailer Monday afternoon in Romeoville. The man, identified by the Will County Coroner's office as Michael B. Loehman, was reportedly struck while crossing Route 53 on foot at around 3 p.m. Route 53 was closed in both directions between Normantown Road and Arlington Drive for nearly five hours as the crash was under investigation.
Loehman was pronounced deceased just after 5 p.m., according to the coroner. An alert from police said the crash happened near Route 53 and Greenwood Avenue.
The driver of the semi-truck was not injured in the crash, Romeoville police told the Chicago Tribune. The truck driver is a 53-year-old man from Markham, according to police.

An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday, the coroner's office said.
On Tuesday, Romeoville police said no citations have been issued and the crash remains under investigation.

The crash wasn't the only incident that snarled traffic Monday in Will County. A multi-vehicle crash was reported on Route 59 between 127th Street and 119th Street in Plainfield, and the area surrounding Route 59 and Black Road was shut down Monday afternoon after utility lines were damaged in another incident, police said.
The accident has been cleared. Route 53 is now open again.
