Romeoville Approves Bridgework For I&M Centennial Trail Project

The $24,700 contract is with P.T. Ferro Construction for bridgework improvements including drainage replacement.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — The Romeoville Village Board entered into a contract for bridgework on the I&M Centennial Trail at its Wednesday meeting.

The $24,700 contract is with P.T. Ferro Construction for bridgework improvements including drainage replacement.

"As we're working with CITGO, Lockport, the Forest Preserve, we've identified some repairs that are needed...underneath the big bridge, where old Romeo Road comes through," Director of Public Works Chris Drey said.

He said there are two drains that come together, and are combined, but they want to open it up and let the bridge drain into single drains.

"With the next part of the project...both of those drain pipes will go underneath the concrete and out into the river," Drey said.

He said the clean-up of the area allows the bridge to get repaired and the partners of the project will have a mural below the bridge.

The I&M Centennial Trail connection project will enhance the path system in the area. Romeoville approved a grant agreement with CITGO last year for the project.
