Romeoville Approves Fireworks Contract For July 3, RomeoFest
This year's July 3 fireworks will be at two locations, instead of three sites like in years past.
ROMEOVILLE, IL — At its Wednesday meeting, the Romeoville Village Board approved a fireworks display contract with Pyrotecnico Fireworks, Inc. for Romeoville's Fourth of July fireworks shows and the annual RomeoFest show.
"As you know, each year we do a spectacular fireworks show. We've done three shows in the past, and the team has spent the off-season doing testing on sites to make sure that the coverage for the community is good," Village Administrator Dawn Caldwell said during Wednesday's meeting.
Caldwell said the new contract recommends going from three fireworks sites to two sites.

"You get just as good of a viewing area, and you get a better fireworks show," Caldwell said. "So we're combining those shows, and we're going to have much larger shows."
According to Board documents, the contract cost for the July 3 shows is $103,500, and the cost of the RomeoFest show is $21,000.

"When we went to the three [fireworks] shows, each one of those shows was just as big as the original show. In fact, they actually got bigger over the years," Mayor John Noak said. "The shows never shrank."
"The two remaining [shows] of the three will even be bigger than any of those have ever been before," he added.
Director of Parks and Recreation Kelly Rajzer said the Village has used Pyrotecnico for many years and has been consistently satisfied.
Rajzer said the contract will be for two fireworks shows at Village Park and Discovery Park.
