Romeoville's Operation Christmas Deadline Approaching

Operation Christmas helps provide assistance to families in need during the holiday season.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Once again this year, the Village of Romeoville will sponsor Operation Christmas, a program which provides assistance to families in need during the holiday season.

Families in need are "adopted" by area residents or businesses, according to the Village website.

You can register for the program online; the deadline to register is Nov. 17. To qualify for the program, you must be a resident of Romeoville, provide proof of current residence, and provide proof of age of children being registered. See all other program requirements here.

According to the Village, it will register people based on the number of years they have received assistance. Those who have been assisted through the program at least three times in the past five years will be placed on a waiting list.

Registrants will be contacted about their acceptance into the program in early December, the Village said.

If you would like to adopt a family for the holiday season, you can also complete the forms online. For each child ages 12 and under, you should purchase one new outfit and one new toy; and for each child ages 13-18 you should purchase one clothing gift certificate for $30 and one other gift certificate for $20.

If you can't adopt a family for this year's program, but would like to contribute still, monetary donations or donations of hats and gloves are welcome.
