The Secret Kitchen Celebrates Mother's Day with an Evening of Royal Indian Cuisine
Every mother dining on May 10 will receive a silk scarf personally designed by Chef Aanal Kotak.
In Indian culture, the act of stepping aside so a mother can rest from the kitchen is one of the most meaningful gestures a family can offer. Indian mothers carry the weight of the household's culinary legacy — guarding secret spice blends passed down through generations, cooking with the care of a ritual, and feeding their families not just food but love and identity. This Mother's Day, The Secret Kitchen honors that legacy by asking every family to bring their mother in — and let someone else do the cooking.
"In India, a mother's kitchen is her kingdom — and her recipes are the crown jewels she passes to the next generation. At The Secret Kitchen, we carry that spirit in every dish we make."
— Chef Aanal Kotak, Founder, The Secret Kitchen
The Mother's Day menu at The Secret Kitchen is a feast that travels across India's royal culinary heritage, brought to life through Chef Aanal's signature handmade spice blends.

Guests will begin with Indian Street Foods — including the Avocado Dahi Puri, a contemporary twist on classic chaat, and the showstopping Parmesan Cheese Pav Bhaji, a Mumbai street classic elevated with European flair. First Plates feature the Thecha Paneer Tikka (a Chef's Special of char-grilled cottage cheese in a bold green chili-garlic marinade) and the regal Nawabi Lamb Chop Tajdar, slow-marinated in rich Nawabi spices. Main Plates include the Burrata Cheese Makhani — where silky Italian burrata meets a luscious North Indian Makhani gravy — and the iconic #TSKfied Butter Chicken #Delhi Style, The Secret Kitchen's celebrated signature dish. Comfort Plates bring the TSK Dum Veg Biryani, sealed with saffron, and a slow-cooked Dal Makhani.
The evening closes with Chef Aanal's Autograph Dessert — a mystery creation of refined flavors and modern presentation, available exclusively at $34.99 — and the ethereal Kesar Mango Rasmalai, rasmalai soaked in saffron milk and crowned with mango puree.

The evening's signature gift makes this year's celebration especially memorable. Each mother in attendance will receive a silk scarf from Purvi-Aanal Couture — the fashion label co-founded by Chef Aanal Kotak and designer Purvi Pujara. Specializing in traditional and contemporary Indian wear, including paithani sarees, Bandhani collections, and Zardoz work, Purvi-Aanal Couture is rooted in Gujarat's magnificent textile heritage. The scarf is a wearable expression of Chef Aanal's dual artistry — merging the elegance of India's couture tradition with the warmth and soul of her culinary world. HOW INDIA CELEBRATES MOTHER'S DAY — A CULTURAL NOTE
Mother's Day in India is celebrated on the second Sunday of May, the same as in the United States, from which the modern holiday originated in 1914.
Known in Hindi as Maatri Divas (मातृ दिवस), the holiday has been embraced across culturally diverse India with remarkable speed, cutting across regional and religious lines.
Traditional gestures include giving flowers and sweets (mithai), performing puja ceremonies to honor mothers, gifting garments such as sarees, and — most meaningfully — giving mothers a day of rest from the kitchen.
India's reverence for motherhood is ancient: the concept of Matrutva (मातृत्व) — the sanctity of motherhood — appears throughout Hindu scriptures and is embodied in festivals honoring the divine mother goddess Durga.
Every Indian family treasures a unique secret spice blend, passed mother to daughter across generations — making food the primary love language of Indian maternal culture.
