Big Boots to Fill—No Problem For Troy Firefighters
Troy firefighters are going to be out fighting for the MDA.

Shorewood motorists and community members will have the opportunity to contribute to the "Fill the Boot" campaign, as local firefighters station themselves to collect donations benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
The fundraiser is set to kick off Sept. 15 at the intersection of Route 59 and Black Road. Firefighters will be out “ filling their boots” from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and again on Sept. 16. They will also be in front of the on Route 59 as well as the .
All proceeds from the drive will benefit local adults and children affected by any of the 43 neuromuscular diseases covered by MDA.

“We would like to thank citizens of Shorewood, and the surrounding towns, for supporting Troy’s Fill the Boot" efforts, said fundraising coordinator Cassandra Vedros. "The members of Troy Fire Protection District are truly heroes not only to the citizens of Shorewood but to the families served by the Muscular Dystrophy Association."
MDA is the nonprofit health agency dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases by funding worldwide research. In addition to funding more than 330 research teams worldwide, MDA maintains a national network of some 200 hospital-affiliated clinics; orchestrates hundreds of support groups for families affected by neuromuscular diseases and facilitates extraordinary local summer camp opportunities for thousands of youngsters fighting progressive muscle diseases.
