Will County Courthouse - Joliet

History:

This postcard photograph shows the third Will County Courthouse from the corner of Jefferson and Chicago Streets looking southwest. Built between 1884-87, the third Will County Courthouse was constructed from Joliet limestone and stood on the public square on west Jefferson Street until its demolition in 1969. The distinctive high clock tower, colonnaded front portico, and cone shaped corner structures represent the Federal architectural style.  John C. Cochrane, the architect of the building, also designed several other Illinois courthouses, including the Illinois State Capital in Springfield.
