Joliet Woman Says Cops Barged Into Her House And Roughed Up Her Cousin

The police scared the family's dog so badly it wet the floor, and a cop slipped in the puddle and fell, the woman said.

A Joliet woman claims the cops burst into her home and beat up her cousin before carting him off to the county jail.

“They started pushing him, they ended up getting him down and punching him in the back of the head,” said Jessica Ketcherside, who went on to tell of the police pepper-spraying her cousin and shocking him with Tasers.

Ketcherside’s cousin, David Ceballos, 26, was arrested Thursday night on charges of aggravated battery, resisting a police officer and obstructing a police officer. His family got together $5,000 cash to bail him out Friday night.

Ketcherside, 28, said she called the police after her mother threatened to kill her and accused her of stealing a cell phone. Officers went from the mother’s house on Second Avenue over to the Union Street home where Ketcherside lives with Ceballos, her fiance and her uncle Ralph Gallup, 45.

“They said, ‘Where’s the phone? Give us the phone. We’re not in a good mood,’” Ketcherside said.

The cops then started coming into the house, she said, with Ceballos warning them to stay out because the family has a pet mastiff. But the police did not listen, Ketcherside said.

“My cousin was like, ‘Don’t come in! Don’t come in!’” Ketcherside said. “They just came in and they rushed him.”

The mastiff did not attack the cops. Scared, it merely peed on the floor, Ketcherside said. An officer then slipped on the puddle of urine and hit his head on the stairs, she said.

“The dog was scared and the dog peed,” she said. The officer “slipped in the pee and hit his face on the stairs.”

“He was so pissed,” Ketcherside said of the officer. “He was so pissed he had pee on him.”

According to the police, Ceballos punched the officer in the face, bloodying his nose. Ketcherside disputed this.

“There was no blood or nothing,” she said, telling how the angry officer complained, “I smell like f---ing dog piss. I’m not in the mood for this tonight.”

Another five officers “rushed inside” after the first two, Ketcherside said, “and there were 10 to 15 cop cars outside.”

Gallup was also arrested. He was charged with resisting or obstructing a police officer and later released on his own recognizance. Ketcherside said her uncle was doing nothing more than “holding my cousin back.”

Ketcherside was not charged with anything. She said officers later took a report from her about the incident involving her mother. Ketcherside said she was listed as a “victim” in the police report.

Ketcherside believes the police “had no right” to enter her home and said the whole scuffle with her cousin was unnecessary.

“They beat him up,” Ketcherside said. “Oh my gosh. His face is messed up.”
