UPDATE: Louie's Chophouse Closing Saturday Night

The owners plan to to reopen the business as a restaurant and grill.

The best place to get a steak in Shorewood will soon be no more. The famed Louie's Chophouse on Jefferson Street is scheduled to close Saturday night.

The restaurant plans to reopen under the same owners. It will reopen later as an upscale sports bar and grill, according to George Gelis. There reopening is targeted for October or November.

The owners are Louis Vardios, and his brothers-in-law, Peter and Gus Gelis. They also own Jameson's Pubs in Joliet and Frankfort. George Gelis is the general manager overseeing all the operations. Chris Gelis is the general manager of Jameson's in Joliet.
