New Seil Road Bridge: Construction Means 15-Month Timeline Begins Next Week Around Shorewood
Temporary lane closures begin March 16 as the construction gets underway along the DuPage River.

SHOREWOOD, IL — The Village Board of Shorewood announced on Tuesday afternoon that the Seil Road and Bridge Reconstruction Project is set to begin on March 16, with an estimated 15-month project timeline.
The $9 million Illinois Department of Transportation project will replace the aging and load-restricted Seil Road Bridge over the DuPage River, including the reconstruction of surrounding roadways.

On Monday, temporary lane closures will begin in the project area along Seil Road between Raven Road and River Bluff Drive, including the Seil Road-Raven Road Intersection for roadwork.
Full closures of the bridge and surrounding roadways in the project area are expected later in March. Once contractors confirm the dates, the Village will provide advance notice to residents and motorists before the closure takes effect.

The project will be completed in three stages.
- Stage 1: Installation of storm sewers, construction of the bridge, and roadway widening including mini-roundabouts.
- Stage 2: Continued bridge construction and reconstruction/widening of Seil Road between Canterbury Drive and River Bluff Drive.
- Stage 3: Placement of the final pavement surface.
Drivers are encouraged to plan and allow additional travel time while using alternate routes. Additional project updates, traffic impacts, and confirmed closure dates will be shared through Village communication channels as construction progresses.
