New Traffic Light In Shorewood Along Route 52 Works Perfectly: Patch Reveals Why It Was Necessary
On Tuesday morning, engineering and traffic crews were able to activate Shorewood's brand new traffic light at Wynstone Boulevard.

SHOREWOOD, IL — Tuesday marked a long-awaited and highly anticipated milestone for the village of Shorewood as several contractors and traffic engineers gathered along Route 52 and Wynstone Boulevard to flip the switches. And they worked! Around 10 a.m., the new four-way traffic light along Route 52 and Wynstone Boulevard was activated for the first time.
As cars and semi-trailers heading east and west along Route 52 saw green lights, the vehicles waiting to turn onto Route 52 from Wynstone Boulevard were up against the red lights.
"The new traffic signal at 52 and Wynstone is now in operation," remarked Shorewood Village Public Works Director Noriel Noriega. "The signal is intended to enhance public safety and optimize traffic movements through the intersection. As we all acclimate to the new signal, please stay alert and drive carefully through the intersection. Please be patient as everyone is adjusting to the new traffic patterns."

The need for the new traffic light at Wynstone Boulevard resulted from added construction development on both sides of Route 52. The new Shorewood YMCA will be ready for its grand opening at the end of April.
Closer to the Shorewood Town Center and Village Hall, there are two major housing developments taking place, one from Lennar Homes and the other from Ed Mattox called The Hamptons of Shorewood.

In November, Joliet Patch produced a big write-up on both housing projects in a story headlined, "Shorewood's Housing Boom Is Now: 416 Homes By Lennar, 247 Rentals/Townhomes By Ed Mattox."
The single-family subdivision project from Lennar Homes is west of Wynstone and north of Village Hall called Towne Center II. The new subdivision sits on 60 acres at Peyton Terrace and Wynstone, and it's 139 single family homes, no apartments or townhouses. The projected population for The Town Center II subdivision is 500 people.
As for the Hamptons of Shorewood, there will be 175 rental homes ranging from 1,100 to 1,267 square feet. All will be two bedrooms and two bathrooms. As for his townhomes, Mattox will construct 72 units, and each will have its own entrance, a private indoor garage and a rear patio or balcony.
